#Poetry The Thin Line Between Love and Hate by Vanadis 17

Suspicious glances, snarled welcome

Cold whispers muttered behind turned backs

One minute two are sworn enemies

Foes to the dying day

But in one moment

Loyalties are formed, prejudices are shattered

The ‘no man’s’ land is claimed

And opposing camps become allies

There is a thin line between love and hate

Yesterday bitter words passed to and fro

Igniting fires of malice and revenge

In hearts charred and scarred by gangrenous hate

Heartfelt exchanges made the rounds

Touching raw nerves and reopening wounds

But today’s sun lit up the horizon

Scorching the remnants of yesterday’s mission to avenge

Lovingly illuminating the bond of friendships formed

And strengthening allegiances forged

There is a thin line between love and hate

Foes we were yesterday

Friends we are today

Enemies we were sworn but as lovers we start this day

It’s funny how yesterday bitter memories had

Yet today has a perfume sweeter than that of spring roses

And in our hearts a melodious duet can be heard

That far surpasses all penned choruses

It’s true then that there is a thin line between love and hate
